I have always loved roading tripping with my colleagues, especially for field work. Today’s road trip was for some less enjoyable reasons, but the company was still excellent.
Members of programs identified for cuts and UNL AAUP members turned out in Omaha to tell the Board of Regents exactly what we think of the so-called program elimination process. Although the video from today’s meeting is not up yet, you can view past meetings on the Regent’s website.
Erin Hacker of Earth and Atmospheric Science was featured on KETV already, ff you haven’t seen it yet. She spoke passionately about the toll this has taken on three generations of her family and the other important things she could be doing with her time, mentoring students, studying Nebraska’s groundwater, and spending time with her family.
And John Schrader, Faculty Senate President, has already provided his feedback to the Board of Regents. He’s permitted us to post it here. Like so many of us, he asks why it is that UNL, as the flagship university in the NU system, has been systematically disinvested in over the last eight years. So, be sure you look below the picture of an amazing group of people standing together in the face of irreparable harm being done to our university and our students.
