Today’s post is a proposal that has been circulating UNL’s College of Arts and Sciences, authored by Ken Bloom. Dr. Bloom is the Willa Cather Professor and Chair in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and a former member of the Academic Planning Committee.
It is, in my opinion, an excellent assessment of the need to support the basic work of faculty and to fully fund the land-grant, flagship university.
Like Dr. Bloom, the UNL AAUP chapter awaits a full, detailed explanation of the proposed program eliminations and other budget reductions from Chancellor Bennett or his designee.
