Join the UNL-AAUP “Stop the Cuts” Rally and Petition Drive!

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) invites the public to attend a “Stop the Cuts” rally and petition drive at the Nebraska Union Plaza this Saturday before the Nebraska–Northwestern football game.
The event aims to raise awareness and build public support against proposed UNL budget cuts that would eliminate 58 faculty positions and six academic programs at Nebraska’s flagship university.
We encourage all Nebraskans to add their opposing voices to these cuts and program closures.
AAUP members, affected faculty, and students will speak at the rally to outline how the proposed cuts—if approved by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents—would have devastating consequences for the university, its students, faculty, Nebraska communities and businesses.
The $27.5 million in proposed cuts would follow $75 million in slashed budgets over the past five years. The cuts have diminished UNL’s educational quality, teaching staff and national reputation. The cuts have also contributed to higher tuition for 24,000 UNL students and lower faculty and staff compensation.
