Yesterday, Gold stated that he had lost trust in UNL leadership because they had not acted with integrity. But here he is doubling down that this process,–about which for months people have been yelling has not had any integrity– was just A-Ok. Once again, you keep saying that word, but I don’t think it means what you think it means.
This all feels like what is happening in the current White House. You did not see with your eyes what you saw. If I say it enough, you will believe me. Even though the “you” here is 1,700 people trained to be extremely skeptical and get to the bottom of things.
You want to be transparent that you continue to not give a hoot and did not hear the central ask to stop this shit show? Even though yesterday you said you were open to reexamining it? Did some of the Regents corner you in a back alley last night and threaten you? I mean, what the heck.
If you want to mitigate harm, you will find a place for every single faculty member in the impacted departments. That won’t rebuild the Ed.D. program that I spent the last 7 years of my career working on. That won’t actually recreate coherent degrees in meteorology, but at least we would have jobs. If we wanted them.
Whatever this was meant to repair, it has failed tremendously.
